Luxeed LED Rainbow Keyboard

August 13, 2007 by Rich | 0 Comments

TechnaBob:

Is that drab old monochromatic keyboard getting you down? This keyboard from Korea’s Luxeed features color changing LEDs under each and every key.

While it can certainly be used to produce seizure-inducing displays of blinking color, the keyboard comes with software that lets you do more subtle things, like just set the keyboard to a light up with a single hue that strikes your mood, or create intricate patterns of color.

Luxeed’s USB keyboards are available in a white backlit version (KRW 118,800 / $127 USD) and a sleek black backlit version (KRW 125,600 / $134 USD), where the keys stay black and only the letters change colors.

Plane Clean Air Filter

August 6, 2007 by Rich | 0 Comments

GearLog:

The idea of this product is to filter and purify airplane air, which anyone who flies often knows can get very stale and very uncomfortable very quickly, depending on how large the plane is and how many people are on the flight.

Just attach the Plane Clean Air Filter to that little air vent that’s right over your seat (the one next to the “summon flight attendant” button) and the filter cleans the air and directs the flow of air straight at your face.

The filter creates a “clean air curtain” that takes fresh air and delivers it straight to you, and somehow repels bacteria, viruses, allergens, or other irritants in the all-too-often stuffy air inside a jet.

CNet:

If you really, really love your TV, then this is the one to get. With the DirecTV Sat-Go, you essentially get the world’s first portable satellite TV system which you can lug along everywhere for your TV fix–on your travels, at work, at the beach.

And since it runs on rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, it’s all wire-free, although the unit also packs AC/DC adapters for the home and car. The whole thingamajib is packed into a Mission Impossible-like briefcase which unfolds to reveal a dish in the back, a 17-inch LCD on its face and controls below. It’s good to go with minimal fuss.

We’re waiting for the day it all sits in our palm. Until then, suffer gear envy because, ironically, while this is satellite TV, not all of Asia gets on the beaming list.

Casio GPR-100 GPS Wristwatch

July 31, 2007 by Rich | 0 Comments

CNet:

GPS on a watch?

Been there, done that.

Just check out Timex and Suunto with their extensive stable of GPS watches. Casio used to have one, but this was apparently discontinued.

However, like the enigmatic James Bond, the Japanese never say die. So back to the drawing board Casio went, and the result was the world’s smallest GPS-enabled wristwatch. There is a price to be paid for such miniaturization, naturally.

Don’t expect this to display maps or offer latitude or longitude data on its tiny 49 × 72 full dot LCD screen. Instead, this timepiece was designed for the sporty sort with an, ah, unhealthy obsession for keeping check on the time, speed, mileage and pace of their run.

Like joggers, this thing has stamina for just 2 hours (stretchable to 4.3 hours on low power). If you like your watch to keep watch on you, check out this decent-sized person locator.

US $460.
